Honeycake - Counting All My Blessings by Medea Kalantar

Life is full of challenges. While we overcome some of these hurdles, some others get us down. At times like this it is vital that we focus on the good things in our lives and move straight ahead.

Honeycake – Counting All My Blessings written by Medea Kalantar is a book that teaches us one of life’s greatest lessons – gratitude.

The fifth book in the honeycake series follows little Nala as she goes to the hospital to meet her new brother. Once she sees all the love and attention her entire family is showering on the new-born baby she is overcome by ícky feelings brought about by the “green eyed monster,” jealousy.

Her grandmother realizes what Nala is going through and takes her aside reassuring her that everyone feels jealous at one time or another and the best way to overcome these feelings is by counting your blessings.  Nala then goes on to make a simple list of the many things she is grateful for including “a family that loves and cares about you very much”.

Grandma then comes up with a gratitude list that is so heartrendingly beautiful that it is essential reading for all of us, especially in these trying times.

The book enables us to overcome the green eyed monster, jealousy, by counting our blessings and focusing our attention on what we have rather than what we don’t.

Along with gratitude, the book also gives us another life lesson, one that shows us that each set back or mistake that we face in life provides us with an opportunity to learn for our future.

A gem of a book that is beneficial to all young and old as the green eyed monster does tend to strike at any age.

This book is also ideal to prepare kids who are going to be welcoming siblings soon.

So delighted i got this RC, it really got me smiling.

Happy Reading
