Hunt For The Troll by Mark Richardson

Imagine a reality where you are paid to play video games and house-sit mansions for billionaires.

It would definitely be a dream job wouldn’t it.

Think again.

In Hunt For The Troll by Mark Richardson this dream job comes with a caveat. Actually make it a lot of caveat’s.

The book starts with a dream. A dream where our main protagonist’s avatar-Roma, sees a troll. A cosmic connection seems to happen in mid-game, mid-dream which eventually gets sealed when the troll cryptically tells Roma “We’re going to change the world.”

What follows is a mad-cap adventure full of fun, twists and turns and even a dash of absurdity.

An adventure that slips from reality to virtual and back again in the blink of an eye. Roma travels through the realms of Centre Terrain (the video game in question) navigating the complex characters within it, like a temptress and a half-ling while also deftly navigating the outside, more complex world, filled with drug induced soirees with a tech reporter and casual chats with billionaires, with the ease of Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk.

So will Roma find the troll or will he get lost in the game?

Will he eventually change the world?

Mark’s forte is world building and this makes for a delightfully zany read. Ideal for fans of the Matrix films as well as those who like themselves a dash of mystery cyberpunk.

So glad I got this RC, it was a super trippy read. Hope you liked my fair and honest review.

Happy Reading
