Breaths That Bind Us by Dr. Ishan Capoor

"Life is nothing but holding on to hope while looking reality in the eye"

Breaths That Bind Us by Dr Ishan Capoor is a book of poetry that takes us on a journey through life—a journey where we search for hope and ultimately find it. It leads us through life's many ups and downs while gently reassuring us that there is a higher purpose behind our breaths, behind our very existence: the purpose of love.

Love for ourselves (which we so often forget).

Love for the people around us.

Love for our environment and our fellow species.

And, most importantly, the love we pass forward to everyone we meet.

This collection follows Dr. Ishan's first book, Inhale, Exhale, a poetry collection reflecting on his experiences as a doctor during the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring the very nature of breath and the meaning of life.

Breaths That Bind Us carries that journey forward—for both the author and the reader—as it delves deeper into the meaning of existence and the interconnectedness we share with the world around us.

Divided into four deeply reflective parts, the book explores the author's encounters with nature, fellow humans, patients, and love.

Each section is rich with vivid imagery. Ishan's words transport you into his world while gently encouraging you to look at your own with fresh eyes.

As the journey unfolds, it naturally leads us toward self-reflection. We, as readers, begin to question our own lives, our own breaths, and what truly gives them meaning.

While this journey may take each of us down different paths, I hope we all arrive at one simple truth: to believe in ourselves and to love ourselves.

"I dug, dug and dug

In search of the treasure.

Little did I know that I was searching in the wrong place,

It was safe in my heart all along."

What stayed with me long after I finished the book was its quiet honesty. There are no grand declarations or complicated philosophies; instead, each poem finds beauty in ordinary moments and reminds us that even life's simplest experiences can hold profound meaning. Whether you read a few poems at a time or immerse yourself in the collection in one sitting, Breaths That Bind Us leaves you pausing, reflecting, and appreciating the people, moments, and breaths that often go unnoticed in the rush of everyday life.

Reading has taken a bit of a hiatus for me over the past year, so when I finally surfaced to breathe again, it felt fitting that this was the book that found its way into my hands.

It was an empowering, thought-provoking, and deeply reflective read.

Hope you liked my fair and honest review.

Happy Reading😃
